What No One Tells You About Mexico City

🎧 Short on time? Listen on Spotify Mexico City is the capital of Mexico and the largest city in North America, with over 21 million people in its metropolitan area. Can you even imagine a million people? When you're in Mexico City as a tourist, you don’t just picture it—you feel it. Some places you visit are so packed, it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before. The sheer volume of humanity is overwhelming… and yet, strangely exhilarating. It’s chaotic, yes, but there’s a kind of joy in witnessing that much life all at once. I’d stop in my tracks, overwhelmed by the scene—then dive into filming, snapping photos, trying to hold onto the feeling. And yet, in the middle of all that, life carried on. People were deep in their routines, focused, committed, completely unaware that someone nearby was marveling at the beauty of their everyday. You feel that scale immediately when arriving by air—tiny houses stretch endlessly, packed tightly together like a living mosaic....

Belgium

Belgium might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of tourist destinations, but it’s full of fascinating spots worth visiting. During a road trip through Europe, we made a stop in Belgium and explored a few cities, including the captivating Brussels.

Just like other parts of Europe, Belgium boasts vast plazas and towering cathedral-like buildings, along with its impressive castles. The Grand Place in Brussels is exceptionally lively, brimming with restaurants, bars, and even a Starbucks. Honestly, finding a good cup of tea in Europe can be challenging, but Starbucks does the trick.

The massive mall with its glass roof is stunning, featuring numerous stores selling Belgian chocolates. Belgium is renowned for its chocolate, and seeing the displays and the passion for chocolate-making is  truly impressive.

Belgian food is vibrant and abundant. You can grab French fries served in a cone from small eateries—an iconic Belgian tradition. Fruits are beautifully displayed and often taste better than those in the States. Like France, Belgium offers a vast array of cheeses, though many taste similar to me.

Belgium is famous for its diamonds and chocolate, and its people speak both French and Dutch, reflecting its borders with France to the west and the Netherlands to the east. Being in a French-speaking territory, it felt familiar, though the French often joke about the Belgians—it's quite a thing.

Overall, Belgium offers a rich and delightful experience that might surprise many travelers.

People gather in these plazas and the buildings are illuminated with beautiful colors.  People are so well and decently dressed. It makes it so nice. The roads are narrow in the city. I didn’t notice too many cars in the city and in the plazas.

They have the city tram and people seems to be taking that to commute. You see the presence of police everywhere. It is pretty safe even at night. Just like anywhere in Europe parking is very cheap.

Toll roads seems only towards France and was not too pricey. Driving was very pleasant. In the cities roads are narrow and cars parked on either side of the road. It was scary as there was no room for error. If someone opened a car door I wonder what happens.
