3 Secrets to Saving Your Orlando Vacation (When the Parks Get Too Much)

Let’s be honest: An Orlando vacation is magical, but it’s also  exhausting . Between the 90-degree humidity, the three-hour wait times for a 4-minute ride, and the afternoon thunderstorms that seem to appear out of nowhere, even the most prepared families can hit a breaking point by day three. I’ve spent years exploring Central Florida, and I’ve realized that the best vacations aren't the ones where you spend 14 hours a day in a theme park. They are the ones where you know when to  pivot . 1. The Afternoon "Rainy Day" Pivot When the clouds turn gray at 2:00 PM, don't run for the parking lot with the thousands of other soaked tourists. If you’re at the parks, head for an indoor show. If you’re at the hotel, head to  Dezerland Park  on I-Drive. It’s 800,000 square feet of indoor fun that Google rarely tells you about. 2. The Ultimate USA Travel Breakdown: My Experience in Every State Except Hawaii

This is my take on all the states in America. Over the years I’ve given some states nicknames, some I love for hiking, some I enjoy for their big cities, and a few have become personal favorites. But in this writing, I stay neutral — just sharing what each place offers from nature to history to scenery. There are states I know I’ll return to many times in the future, and others I appreciate for what they taught me in the moment. Some are historic, some are scenic, some are quiet, and some are full of energy. I’d love for you to comment on your state and tell me whether you agree, disagree, or see it differently.

I’ve visited countless states and cities during 4th of July celebrations, and one thing I’ve learned is this: even the smallest towns in America know how to celebrate. This country is huge and full of variety — you can spend your entire life traveling from childhood to adulthood and still never see it all. If you have the passion I do, you’ll keep going until you do. I speak confidently about America because I’ve driven to every state from my home base in Florida, with one shortcut — I flew to Seattle and drove from there into Oregon. I’ve seen how real road trips unfold, what travelers go through on American highways, and how rest areas become part of the journey. I’ve driven in many countries, but nothing compares to the U.S. interstate system; despite traffic, construction, or accidents, it remains the best. Google Maps has been a lifesaver more times than I can count, and I’m grateful for it. And our rest areas? They’re getting better, cleaner, and more efficient every year.
